How to buy a working line German Shepherd from Brazil

Buying a puppy from another country sounds complicated — until you see the process laid out. This is exactly how international buyers work with our kennel, from the first message to the day your puppy arrives.

By Nasser Michel Umar · Breeder since 2001 · Chapecó, Brazil

The short version: you deal directly with the breeder over WhatsApp and video calls, verify a public 4-generation pedigree (ALKC certificate no. 249882), sign a written contract, reserve with 1/3 of the USD 2,200 reference price, and receive your puppy through assisted international delivery — transport costs covered by the buyer. No middlemen at any step.

Canil Gelbes Wasser has bred working line German Shepherds in Chapecó, southern Brazil, since 2001 — the same genetics used by police and military handlers, raised on a rural property alongside horses and daily family life. International buyers come to us for one simple reason: elite working genetics at a price that makes the flight worth it.

Why buying from abroad is safe (when done right)

Everything that matters is verifiable remotely. The pedigree number is public and checkable with the registry. The sire (Odin Holly's Land, German bloodline) and dam (M-Killer da Lagoa Grande, police bloodline) appear in photos, videos and live calls. The contract is written and signed before any payment. Distance changes nothing about the evidence — only about the shipping.

What you should demand from any foreign kennel — ours included: a live video call showing the puppies and the dam (never accept recorded-only footage), the pedigree number of both parents before reserving, and written terms covering what happens if the litter is smaller than expected. Our answers to all three are on record; the verification walk-through is in our guide on checking an ALKC pedigree from abroad.

Price and what is included

The international reference price is USD 2,200 (EUR 1,900 for European buyers). It includes the ALKC and CBPA pedigree, first vaccine, two deworming doses, veterinary check, written sales contract and the breeder's post-sale support over WhatsApp — feeding, raising and training guidance during adaptation. International transport costs are quoted separately and covered by the buyer, always agreed before the reservation. The full logistics are explained in the international delivery guide.

"Distance is a flight. Documentation is forever. Choose the kennel by the second, not the first."

Why a Brazilian working line kennel

Brazil has one of the strongest working dog cultures outside Europe — police lineages are actively bred and proven here. The economics work in your favor: comparable working line puppies from established European or North American kennels typically list well above our reference price, before shipping. The full comparison is in Why Brazil? Elite genetics at a fair price.

One honest caveat from the breeder: import rules vary by country (rabies vaccination windows, microchip, health certificates). We prepare the export paperwork and the buyer confirms the import requirements of their destination — we walk through this together before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy a puppy from Brazil without visiting the kennel?

Yes. The entire process runs remotely: live video calls with the puppies and dam, public pedigree verification (ALKC no. 249882), written contract, and assisted international shipping. Most of our international buyers never visit in person.

How much does a working line German Shepherd from Brazil cost?

The international reference price at Canil Gelbes Wasser is USD 2,200 (EUR 1,900 in Europe), including pedigree, first vaccine, deworming, contract and post-sale support. International transport is quoted separately and paid by the buyer.

How do I pay safely from another country?

Reservation is 1/3 of the price after the written contract is signed, with the balance before delivery. Payment terms and methods are agreed directly with the breeder during the reservation — never pay any kennel that demands full payment upfront without a contract.

How old is the puppy when it travels?

Never before 60 days, and for international routes only after meeting the destination country's vaccination and documentation requirements, which can extend the timeline. The breeder coordinates the exact schedule with you.

What if the litter has fewer puppies than reservations?

Reservation order protects you: earlier reservations choose first. If you are not reached, you choose between priority in the next litter or a refund of the deposit — spelled out in the contract before you pay.

An ocean between you and the right dog is a logistics problem — and logistics problems have quotes, dates and solutions.
